Today, Long Lead and Campside Media were honored with a 2024 national Edward R. Murrow Award, which recognizes excellence in broadcast and digital journalism, for Long Shadow: Rise of the American Far Right.
It’s the first Murrow Award for Long Lead, which has had an epic run of awards this year, receiving top honors from the Society for Professional Journalists, the Newhouse Mirror Awards, and the Webby Awards.
Long Shadow: Rise of the American Far Right, hosted by Pulitzer Prize finalist Garrett Graff, was honored in the “Small Digital Organization” category, alongside such noted names as ProPublica, The 19th, and the Austin American-Statesman.
With compelling clarity, extraordinary detail, and riveting interviews, Long Shadow’s second season examines a thread of history that’s vitally relevant to our current political climate. The limited series explores how the modern domestic extremist movement grew from a fatal shootout on a mountain top in Idaho and resulted in an attempted insurrection in U.S. Capitol.
